A family living in Malo Feeder Road, Naduru, Nausori is now homeless after their 3-bedroom corrugated iron and timber house was destroyed in a fire yesterday morning.
The National Fire Authority says they were alerted at 1.56 am yesterday and immediately responded to the call.
They say upon the arrival of their fire team, the house was engulfed in flames and quickly used one of their fire trucks to extinguish the fire.
NFA says they believe the fire started in the kitchen.
No one was injured in the fire and NFA is conducting investigations to determine the cause of the fire.
The National Fire Authority is urging people to take extra precautions during Diwali to avoid any fire incidents happening.
NFA is also urging parents to supervise their children while they play and light fireworks.
