Mothers admitted in the Post Natal Ward at the Lautoka Hospital have full access to hot water as taps and showers are connected to the Solar Hot Water System.
This has been confirmed by the Assistant Media Liaison Officer of the Ministry of Health, Sunil Chandra.
This came about after a few families of women admitted in the ward raised the concern of these new mothers bathing in cold water and waiting in line for one to finish heating water using an electric kettle for water to bathe their babies.
When questioned by Fijivillage, the Ministry confirmed that the pipes that connect from the Solar Hot Water System to the taps and showers in the ward are working well.
However, the Ministry is yet to respond as to why the hot water was not available during the period the complaint was made.
