Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Mereseini Vuniwaqa says she is very proud that Fiji can call the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7's team as wonderful ambassadors for young women and girls as they have once again qualified for the Olympics.

Speaking at a morning tea hosted by the French Ambassador in honour of the team qualifying for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Vuniwaqa says while the current players are receiving more support now than former generations, resources still do not match those available to the men's rugby and female players continue to face a multitude of challenges.

She says that while the whole nation exalts male rugby players, their female counterparts still have had to jump countless hurdles and yet the players have remained resolutely committed to the game and the obstacles have never dampened their passion and leadership.

Meanwhile, Fijiana Captain, Rusila Nagasau says the team is excited to have qualified for the Tokyo Olympics but their focus right now is on the next leg in Dubai and Cape Town.

She says she hopes the nation will be supporting the team as they have been supporting the men's team.

The Dubai 7s will be held on the 6th to the 8th of December.

Fijiana is in Pool B with Australia, Spain, and Ireland.
