Deontay Wilder has emphasised that a second loss for Anthony Joshua next month will not signal the end of his boxing career and insisted that the Brit can follow the example of Muhammad Ali to become a champion again.
Joshua will fight Andy Ruiz Jr in Saudi Arabia next month in a bid to reclaim the WBA, IBF and WBO belts he lost to the Mexican at Madison Square Garden earlier this year.
A win for Joshua will propel him back into the heavyweight conversation, with mega-fights against Wilder and Tyson Fury surely the next steps for Joshua.
However, another loss to the unfancied Ruiz could spell the end of Joshua's pursuit of heavyweight glory.
Yet that is certainly not an opinion held by Wilder. The WBC heavyweight champion has insisted that a loss for Joshua does not mean his career is over.
