SODELPA MP, Ro Filipe Tuisawau says the government should release how much it cost the Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and his team to travel to Europe to get the Airbus A350 for Fiji Airways.

Ro Filipe claimed in parliament that the government spent close to $200,000 on this trip.

He also wants the government to release the cost of the trip by the Fiji delegation that travelled to Geneva for the UN Periodic Review of Human Rights.

Ro Filipe claims that the Geneva trip costs $121,000.

When asked where he got these numbers, Ro Filipe says these were estimates of the travel costs put together by the Opposition Office and he does not have evidence of the real numbers.

While responding to the President’s speech in parliament, Ro Filipe says these large overseas tours are an expensive and irresponsible use of taxpayers' funds.

Sayed-Khaiyum then interjected and said that the spending was not even close to the amount mentioned by Ro Filipe.

He says he received a detailed complaint from the Ministry of Economy in an email that he will forward to the Minister for Economy.

Ro Filipe also called on the government to resign because the economy has not progressed and has called for elections.
