Rugby Australia boss, Raelene Castle cannot completely rule out the possibility of Israel Folau returning to the rugby code but believes the sacked Wallabies superstar would refuse to sign under the current player contractual terms.
Folau's multi-million deal with Rugby Australia was terminated after a high-level breach of the Professional Players' Code of Conduct in April after his religiously-motivated, anti-gay social media posts.
Castle stressed that Rugby Australia and Folau had parted ways.
Castle was asked if technically there is a door still open for Folau to sign another contract despite being terminated.
Castle responded that it is clear that their values are not aligned and the expectations that Rugby Australia would have for Folau’s return would not be acceptable.
She adds at the end of the day, they do not believe that Folau would sign under the current players contract.
