The Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has assured people that the government does not have any ability to be able to track people down.

Speaking at the Attorney General’s Conference, Sayed-Khaiyum said people have a very pedestrian approach when they discuss the right to privacy, freedom of expression and the ability to express themselves through the internet.

Sayed-Khaiyum also says people should always be mindful of where and who they give their financial information to when they are online.

Sayed-Khaiyum also revealed the government is considering having a Privacy Commissioner who will work with the Online Safety Commissioner.

He says there has been some thought process around it and it needs to be discussed further with more consultation.
