1,970 people are staying in 48 evacuation centres around the country.
The National Disaster Management Office says humanitarian assistance is expected to be directed to affected communities in the next 24 hours.

NDMO says coordination is done between the National Emergency Operation Centres and Divisional Emergency Operation Centres to ensure response to the affected population is delivered in an effective and efficient manner.
It says Public safety remains paramount.
NDMO says restoration of essential services also remains a priority for providers of critical services.
