The top floor of a double-storey house has been destroyed in a fire at Vinod Karsanji Street in Rifle Range in Vatuwaqa last night.

Police confirm that the bottom floor has sustained some damages.

Police say the family is safe and has currently taken shelter at their neighbours home.

The fire started around midnight. 

Investigations continue.
