A shocking act of violence has rocked a community to its core and thrown a spotlight on the threat to women from domestic violence in Australia, which lingers despite official measures to stamp it out.

The life Hannah Clarke and her then-husband Rowan Baxter had built for themselves seemed idyllic.

They had three beautiful children, two girls Aaliyah, 6, and Laianah, 4 and a little boy, Trey, 3.

She was a former trampolining champion who represented Queensland for four consecutive years.

He was a former NRL hopeful who had transitioned to personal training.

Together they owned and operated a local gym.

But there were domestic violence issues lurking under the surface, which came to a head in horrific and deadly fashion in a Brisbane suburban street earlier this week.

It’s believed Rowan Baxter, a former Warriors player, set the car on fire with Hannah, Laianah, Aaliyah and Trey inside.
