20 farmers have each received $400 worth of farming kit under the Ministry of Agriculture’s Back To Rural Agriculture programme today.

8 farmers are from Nadi while 12 are from Sigatoka who used to work in urban areas but have lost their jobs due the impacts of COVID-19 and have decided to move back to rural areas and do farming.

Most of the farmers who received the kit were employed in the tourism sector.

The $400 package consists of $250 worth of farming tools, $100 worth of planting materials and $50 cash.

The farming tools include one farm knife, one fork, one spade, one 20 litre water bucket, one water can, an axe, 50 metre rope, one set of tarpaulin and 1 set shade cloth.
