A General and Interventional Cardiologist based at the Gold Coast University Hospital in Australia and former Fiji resident, Doctor Vijay Kapadia who grew up in Amy Street in Suva and has managed to secure an angiogram and cath lab equipment for the CWM Hospital for the third time, says a public private partnership has to be formed in Fiji to ensure that we set up a Cardiac Care Facility at CWM.

He says this fully funded facility can become a regional centre of excellence to which Australia, New Zealand and other major countries can contribute to in a meaningful way.

Doctor Kapadia says when he got the angiogram and cath lab equipment in 2009 for Fiji, he had high hopes, and he is now hoping that urgent steps are taken to save many lives.

Doctor Kapadia hopes serious discussions take place on setting up the facility that works everyday.

He says we cannot ignore COVID-19 but everyone needs to look into this issue and find urgent solutions as Fiji has one of the highest incidents of heart disease in the world.

Doctor Kapadia says he has been trying to get the information across for about 20 years now.
