The Vodafone Fiji under-20 side put up a fight against Ireland last night but was not enough as they went down 47-27 in their last pool match of the Junior World U20 Rugby Championship.

Fiji scored five tries to Moses McGoon, Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula, captain Motikiai Murray, Pateresio Finau and Manieta Navonovono with Ravula adding only one conversion.

The Irish took an early 12-0 lead before Fiji replied through McGoon in the 14th minute with Ravula adding the extras.

Ireland scored a further two converted tries while Ravula pulled one back for the Fijians as the game went into halftime with the Irish holding a 26-12 lead.

The Baby Flying Fijians started the game well in the second spell scoring two tries to Murray and Finau to trail 26-22.

Ireland came back stronger to score three more converted tries before Navonovono scored a consolation try for Fiji in the 80th minute.

In other games last night and this morning, Georgia beat Italy 30-17, Australia drew with England 22-all, New Zealand walloped Japan 62-19 and France beat Wales 43-29.
