Good news for former and current workers of the Air Terminal Services that were affected by COVID-19 as ATS announced today that they will pay out $6.08 million in compensation.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad while announcing the payment says this compensation is more than a payout — it is a gesture of reconciliation, of acknowledgment, and of respect.
He says under this Coalition Government’s leadership they are now able to do what is right with a payment of 1.5 years’ gross base pay to reinstated employees.
Prof. Prasad says this includes ex gratia payment of $5,000 gross to each of the four medically unfit employees.
He says as well as ex gratia payment of $5,000 gross to each of the 61 retirees and voluntary early retirees.
The Deputy Prime Minister says pro-rata ex gratia payments to contracted employees as follows: $8,000 gross each for those terminated and rejoined before 31 December 2021.
He says this also means $6,000 each for those terminated and rejoined from 1st January 2022 to 31st December 2022.
