The Under-17 side of Shiri Guru Nanak Khalsa College is expecting a tough game this weekend when they take on Suva Grammar School.

Speaking to fijivillage Sports, head coach Leone Savai says this is the first time a team from Khalsa College has reached the national Vodafone Super Deans quarter-finals, and the players have been reminded to focus on the basics.

Savai says that back in Labasa, since they do not have access to a proper gym, the players have been using tyres, bags of sand, and logs for weightlifting and strength training.

He says the challenges the boys face have become a major source of motivation for them on the field.

Savai adds that a few weaknesses identified last week particularly in defence and individual tackling are being addressed ahead of their game on Saturday.

He is urging parents, guardians, and former students to come out in numbers and support the team.

Khalsa College will meet Grammar at 11:10am at Prince Charles Park in Nadi on Saturday.
