Scotland are through to the quarter finals of the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 after beating the Fijiana 29-15 this morning at Salford Community Stadium.

Indiscipline cost the Fijiana, as they spent 35 minutes of the game with 14 players, after prop Vika Matarugu was sent off in the 8th minute for a high shot while hooker Bitila Tawake also received a yellow card in the 56th minute which was later upgraded to a red while Salote Nailolo also received a yellow card in the 75th minute.

The Fijiana scored through prop Loraini Senivutu, No 8 and British Army soldier Manuqalo Komaitai, and prop Karalaini Naisewa.

Scotland wingers Rhona Lloyd and Francesca McGhie got themselves two tries a piece while centre Emma Orr scored the other.

Michella’e Stolz only spent 3 minutes on the field before she was replaced by Nailolo who made most of the breaks in the game.

Scotland led 17-5 at half time.

Nailolo and inside centre Josifini Neihamu were the two players controlling the game as they made multiple breaks combining well with flanker Nunia Daunimoala.

The Fijiana now turn their focus to Wales who they will play next Sunday at 1.45am.
