The Fiji Bulikula have created history by becoming the first-ever women’s rugby league team from Fiji to qualify for the Women’s Rugby League World Cup.

The Bulikula secured the eighth and final World Cup spot after demolishing Nigeria 62-4 in the final of the International Rugby League World Series.

Head Coach Joe Dakuitoga praised the girls for the achievement, saying that qualifying for the World Cup is a big boost for women’s rugby league in Fiji and around the world.

He says they aim to promote gender equality in Fiji and continue lifting the standard of women’s sport, not only in rugby league.

Dakuitoga adds they are blessed to be part of the 2026 World Cup.

The Fiji Bulikula join Australia, New Zealand, England, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, France, and Wales as the eight women’s teams set to compete in the prestigious tournament, which will take place in October and November 2026 in Australia.
