Women, families and communities across the country are urged to take steps toward eliminating cervical cancer, one of the most preventable cancers affecting women.

Fiji Cancer Society Clinical Nurse Manager, Karo Tamani says the day serves as a reminder that every woman deserves access to life-saving screenings, and every girl deserves protection and empowerment through vaccination.

Tamani urges women who have yet to undergo cervical screening to come forward and get tested, highlighting that early detection saves lives.

She also appeals to parents to grant consent for their daughters to receive the HPV vaccine, which is provided through the school immunisation programme.

Tamani says cervical cancer can be eliminated, and today we stand together to make that happen.

She says we unite in teal to support this global call to end cancer which can be prevented.

She emphasises the importance of turning awareness into action by encouraging HPV vaccination, promoting regular screening, supporting survivors and caregivers, and advocating for accessible healthcare for all.

Tamani says the Fiji Cancer Society remains committed to working with communities, partners and the health sector to ensure that no woman is left behind in the fight against cervical cancer.

She adds that together, we can eliminate cervical cancer for good.
