Police are investigating a case of an alleged rape of a 22 year old woman at Maqalevu, Nadi last evening.
The victim was waiting for her transport along Maqalevu road when an unknown person pulled her hair from back and started assaulting her on the head and face.
The suspect also covered the victim's mouth with his hand preventing from raising the alarm. The victim was unconscious when she was carried for about 300 meters into the bush where she was allegedly raped.
The victim regained consciousness later, came to the main road and boarded a passing cab that conveyed her to the Nadi Police Station where she reported the matter.
The victim received serious injuries during the attack. The suspect is likely to be charged later today.
