Police are waiting for the father of the 16-year-old boy who was found in procession of a gun two weeks ago in Vatuwaqa to return from Iraq to ascertain how he managed to get the weapon into the country.
Police Spokesperson Corporal Suliano Tevita told Fijivillage, that they suspect the gun that was found could have been brought into the country by officers who serve in countries like Iraq and Afghanistan.
However, Corporal Tevita said they cannot say when the officer will return to Fiji.
Military Spokesperson Major Neumi Leweni had earlier confirmed that the gun belongs to a security officer who is serving currently in Iraq and Police are now investigating the matter.
