Former sevens captain and coach Waisale Serevi has achieved another historic milestone in his rugby career.
The King of the sevens code, has been appointed by the Chairman of the International Rugby Board Bernard Lapase to the IRB bidding team to lobby for the inclusion of the seven-a-side code to the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Serevi joins a growing team that also includes former All Black Hitman Jonah Lomu.
Fiji Rugby Union President Ro Filipe Tuisawau says the invitation signifies that Serevi will always be part of Fiji Rugby and his contribution to the game and the nation will always be appreciated by many.
Tuisawau says it’s very important to have 7s rugby into the Olympics and this would be our only chance for an Olympic medal.
The IOC will decide in October that which two sports will get the nod to be included in the 2012 Olympics.
