Labasa Police are now helping people living in the Labasa town area to move to evacuation centres.
Regional Police Commander Northern, SSP Luke Qionibaravi said the water level in the Labasa river is increasing due to heavy rain and as a precautionary measure they are telling people in the low lying areas to move to evacuation centres.
People have also been urged to move to higher ground during daylight if they live near rivers and streams.
Three main rivers that joins the Labasa river are flooded.
They are the Korotari, Suweni and Vunimoli river.
