The Land Transport Authority is confident that people will soon realise the risks they put themselves through when J Walking.

Authority Spokesperson Vera Wedlock said previously we would have a group of 20 people jaywalking, now as we move around in the central division we can see that there is quite a number of us that are practicing safe crossing behaviors.

Wedlock said they currently have road Marshalls creating awareness on the importance of practicing safe crossing behavior but the authority is also challenged in the areas of man power and resources, thus the responsibility of safety is on each and everyone of us.

She added that fines are imposed as a reminder to people that safety for the public is to be maintained.
