A man who stole a police exhibit which was kept at Nabua police station in May this year was handed a suspended sentence by the Suva Magistrates Court today.
Nazir Hussein is charged with interfering with evidence and unlawful supply of illicit drugs.
The court heard that between 18th to 20th May, Hussein was locked up at the Nabua police station for being drunk and disorderly.
While in the lock up, he climbed out of the cell through the ceiling of the Nabua police station toilet and went into the exhibit room where he busted the seal of the drugs.
He sold the drugs and also supplied it to other prisoners in the cell.
He has been sentenced to 21 months for the first count and 16 months for the second count which has been suspended for two years.
