Sub division hospitals may go Wi-Fi from as early as next year as part of the upgrades to improve healthcare in Fiji.

Health Minister Dr. Neil Sharma said this will also allow the hospital to monitor the health data of patients.

Along with this doctors will also be trained in Maternity, Pediatrics, and Emergency Medicine.

Meanwhile with developments lined up for CWM the East Wing will be transformed into a Diagnostic Wing to provide services such as scans, X-Rays, MRI's and non-invasive cardiology.

$10 million has been earmarked for upgrading works at the CWM hospital.

Dr Neil Sharma said the upgrades will see a fairly new and modern Accident and Emergency Unit which will be opened shortly.

Dr Sharma adds amongst the outcomes of the up-grading projects are 11 operating theaters in total for CWM, 46 new beds for the Namosi and Tailevu wards, and an automated system which will now increase the process of pap smears from 20,000 to 50,000.
