Senior prefects in schools should remember that there is no drop policy on assault and they will be taken to task if they take the law into their own hands.

This warning is given by Police spokesperson Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri after an 18 year old student of a Tailevu school was allegedly assaulted by a group of senior prefects last Sunday.

A report was lodged at the Korovou Police station last week that the student was allegedly forced to walk among the senior prefects and then allegedly punched and whipped with a hosepipe for about three hours.

The victim’s twin brother who also studies in the same school saw bruises on his brother's body and alerted their parents.

Six students have been charged with assault, who are expected to appear in the Nausori magistrates court tomorrow.
