A former Fiji citizen was killed in an early morning robbery at his dairy shop in the Auckland suburb of Henderson this morning.

Police are talking to two boys aged 12 and 13 believed to be involved in the fatal stabbing of the dairy shop owner.

Radio NZ reports that officers were called to the dairy on Great North Road at about 7.30am today and found Arun Kumar with what appeared to be stab wounds to his neck.

Ambulance staff tried to revive the 57-year-old, but he died at the scene.

A large number of officers remain at the scene, which is at the centre of the busy Henderson shopping strip.

The dairy has been covered with tarpaulins.

Officers are speaking to several witnesses.
