More than 4, 000 struggling widows between Rakiraki and Sigatoka were all smiles today as Life Bred International announced that it will be establishing a home and a multi-purpose training center for them.
Life Bread International Director Dr Raymand Moti announced this during the launching of the Life Bread Cafeteria on Saturday in Teidamu Lautoka.
Moti said after learning the hardship of the widows, he hopes to give hope as well as empower them.
He said Almanah Hope Center will aim to empower widows with specially designed programme to enable them to self-reliant.
He added that the women would be able to develop their talents, learn new skills giving them opportunity and further assisting them to venture into income generating projects for building sustainable livelihood.
While speaking at the launch of the Life Bread Cafeteria, Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Rosy Sofia Akbar said Government will ensure that women are treated fairly and equally.
She said her Ministry will work together with LifeBread-Stay Connected Foundation to provide training and also extend an invite to volunteers to conduct training seminars and workshops for participants.
She also highlighted that they will jointly develop accredited programs for the women at the center which will have trained widows being absorbed into the employment sector or venturing into their own businesses.
LifeBred Stay Connected Foundation official Dorinda Work says they are identifying, interviewing and selecting first 10 to 20 women to undergo 6 months training which begins in February next year.
