The issue of pushing regarding the 400 metres intermediate girls final at the Coca-Cola Games has been clarified.

Coca-Cola Games Meet Manager Biu Colati says they resolved this issue after viewing the footage last Saturday and the jury has ruled that Elenani Tinai from Adi Cakobau School did not push Akanisi Sokoiwasa from Jasper Williams High School during the race.

Colati adds that this is why there was no re-run of the intermediate girls 400 metres final on Saturday.

If there was a clear and deliberate push, then the athlete would have been disqualified.

He also clarified that the reason for the re-run of the sub junior boys 100 metres final was because of the complaint brought up by Jai Narayan College.

Colati says that there was also a technical fault where the starter was at fault.

The first run was won by Elia Kolivuso of Suva Grammar School but his gold medal was stripped off due to the re-run.

Suva Grammar boycotted the rerun which was won by Saiasi Lesukinavuli of Ratu Kadavulevu School.

Meanwhile one of the 4x400 metres intermediate boys heats also went through a re-run after a protest from the Vunisea Secondary School.

Colati says that the jury does not include any principal or teacher and the decision was neutral.

The games next year is expected to be held at Churchill Park, Lautoka.
