Fiji has always been a resilient nation, known for its warmth and welcoming community spirit.
These were the words of the Leader of Opposition Ro Teimumu Kepa in her New Year’s message.
Ro Teimumu also stressed that she has never failed to appreciate that despite political differences, in our hearts we have always remained Fijians at our best.
She says that as we welcome 2018 people should also acknowledge those who may be alone at this time of much happiness and merrymaking, and pray they are comforted and assured by neighbours, family and friends who will take a moment out of their busy lives to comfort and cheer the sick or lonely.
She adds that she is optimistic that in the Spirit of giving, people will spare a thought and what they can during this time, to share with those who still need a helping hand.
Ro Teimumu says that during this brief term of her leadership of the Opposition, she has grown older and hopefully a little wiser, she has become more sensitive to the needs of her own family as a mother, aunt, cousin and grandmother.
She also highlighted that this year is Elections year.
The Leader of Opposition says that in the midst of campaigns and election promises, she hopes they will implant in their hearts their care of duty to the people they serve.
Ro Teimumu also challenges people to learn to appreciate what little they have and hold humility and gratitude in their hearts heading into the New Year.
She adds that if people choose to harbour peace and unity, reconciliation and friendship with others, she has no doubt that Fiji will be successful in many if not all our endeavours.
