The Fiji Police Force has acknowledged the support of the public enabling major events held in main towns and cities to be largely incident free.
Chief of Operations, Rusiate Tudravu says that it was great to see people of all walks of life converge at the main street party venues enjoying the night to welcome 2018.
He adds that with the aid of a command vehicle which was donated by the People's Republic of China last year and the deployment of a drone, operations were able to keep a close eye on the movements of party revellers at the two street party locations in Suva.
Tudravu says that similar reports were received about street parties held in other divisions that were also incident free.
He says that Police are appreciative of everyone's cooperation in abiding to requests made earlier to prioritize safety and adhere to the rules set out by the organizers.
