Police winger and former rugby league player Sakeo Raloa is aiming to secure a spot in the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team ahead of the Commonwealth and World Cup 7s this year.
Raloa performed outstandingly in the Mana Whey Fiji Coral Coast 7s last weekend scoring a hat-trick in the final and winning the David Campese Medal or the Man of the Match Award.
The former 100 metres sprinter of Nasinu Secondary School is the cousin of French 15's and 7s star Virimi Vakatawa.
Fiji coach Gareth Baber was impressed with Raloa’s performance who has speed and strength and the ability to bump off tacklers.
Raloa had earlier tried playing for the Vodafone Fiji Bati in the 2013 Rugby League World Cup but he was not picked.
Meanwhile the Fiji 7s team will fly out to Sydney tomorrow.
Fiji play their first game against Samoa at 8.28pm this Friday, then Russia in their second game at 5.09pm this Saturday before taking on New Zealand at 8.42pm this Saturday.
The quarterfinals will start at 12.28pm this Sunday, the semifinals are at 6.36pm while the final will kick off at 9.48pm.
