Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Lee Burney has told the Suva High Court they will be making an application to amend some information in the case of Fiji Times Limited and others.
Fiji Times Editor in Chief Fred Wesley Publisher Hank Arts, Nai Lalakai Editor Anare Ravula and contributor Josaia Waqabaca appeared before High Court Judge Justice Thushara Rajasinghe this morning.
Burney said he will be making the application by tomorrow.
The lawyers representing the accused persons have stated that they will respond to the application once the amended information is filed in court.
The charges were earlier amended from inciting communal antagonism to sedition.
According to the amended information earlier filed and served to Fiji Times Limited and others, it is alleged that Fiji Times, on the 27th of April last year printed the Nai Lalakai newspaper which contained an article which had content with a seditious intention to promote feelings of ill-will and hostility between classes of the population.
The defense lawyers have also stated that they will accept and use the translation of the article done by the court clerks and not the one provided by the DPP's office.
