White House staff secretary Rob Porter, a top aide to U.S President Donald Trump has resigned, the White House confirmed today following allegations of abuse from his two ex‑wives.

Porter denied the allegations in a statement issued in the wake of his resignation.

He said in his statement that the outrageous allegations are simply false and he has been transparent and truthful about the vile claims, but he will not further engage publicly with a coordinated smear campaign.

A White House official said Porter resigned over the objections of White House chief of staff John Kelly and others.

Kelly said in a statement that Rob Porter is a man of true integrity and honor and he can't say enough good things about him. He is a friend, a confidante and a trusted professional.
