The National Fire Authority attended 150 property fires last year.

Out of the 150 property fires, 132 were home fires, 17 commercial fires and one industrial fire incident. 

The Authority says 46 property fires were electrical related, 18 were due to unattended cooking and 10 were caused by children playing with matches.

In comparison, there were a total of 147 property fires in 2016, 127 in 2015 and 143 in 2014.

Other emergency responses by the National Fire Authority last year were attending 1351 ambulance calls, 63 flood and swift water rescues and hazardous material response calls.

It also conducted 1093 fire safety awareness programs with included school fire safety awareness programs and community fire safety awareness programs.
