Two Fijian players will feature for the Super Rugby defending champion Crusaders when they face the Chiefs tonight.
Seta Tamanivalu and Manasa Mataele will contribute to the hopes of the Crusaders in carrying on from where they had left off after winning the title last year.
The two sides have built up a strong history and it was the Crusaders who got the Chiefs on both meetings last year with a 31‑24 win in Suva and a 27‑13 victory during the semifinal in Christchurch.
The thought of getting a defending champion in round one can be favorable for the fact that they may be able to be struck while still a bit cold.
The Crusaders are without injured All Blacks Joe Moody, Owen Franks, Kieran Read and Israel Dagg and they do not have a flash opening‑round record.
The Crusaders will face the Chiefs at 6.35pm today.
Meanwhile in last nights clash the Highlanders defeated the Blues 41-34 while the Rebels took full advantage of their season opening over the Reds claiming a 45‑19 win.
In other games for today the Sunwolves takes on the Brumbies at 4.15pm, while the Waratahs will host the Stormers at 8.45pm.
Tomorrow the Lions play the Jaguares at 1.05am and the Bulls will take on the Hurricanes at 3.15am.
