The Blues' young flyhalf Bryn Gatland is relishing his chance in the No.10 jersey after his impressive start against the Highlanders last Friday.

The 22‑year‑old showed off his attacking flair in the Blues 41‑34 loss to the Highlanders and was not afraid to take on the defence.

He scored a brilliant try in the first half and had a commanding presence on the field, not to mention kept the Blues in the match with his solid kicking game.

Gatland told TVNZ that he hopes to guide the Auckland Blues to the 2018 Super Rugby final.

Blues coach Tana Umaga has also praised Gatland who was given the No. 10 jumper due to injuries to Stephen Perofeta and Otere Black.

The Blues host the Chiefs at Eden Park in Auckland at 6.35pm Friday while the Reds face the Brumbies at 9pm.

On Saturday, the Crusaders will take on the Stormers at 6.35pm and the Sunwolves will take on the Rebels at 9pm.

On Sunday, the Sharks face the Waratahs at 1.05am, the Bulls meet the Lions at 3.15am while the Hurricanes take on the Jaguares at 9.40am.
