Money can buy people but it can never shade away the truth.

This was highlighted by State Counsel Lavenia Bogitini during her closing submission in the alleged rape case of Navua businessman Govind Sami who is charged with two counts of rape and one count of indecently annoying a person.

The alleged incidents occurred between July 2015 to 25th October 2016 in Navua.

Bogitini told the court that the victim never consented to the alleged sexual acts and was scared of Sami as he was her boss and she felt intimidated by his position and built.

But in his closing submission, Defence counsel Avinesh Reddy said there were so many contradictions and doubts with the victim's evidence.

Reddy said the victim was not employed by Sami but rather it was her husband.

He also stated that the victim is a manipulative person.

Judge Justice Salesi Temo will sum up the case today.
