The Attorney General and Minister for Civil Aviation Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and the Ambassador of Japan Masahiro Omura signed the Exchange Notes for the Amendment of the Route Schedule of the Air Service Agreement between Fiji and Japan.

While speaking at the event, Sayed-Khaiyum says they will be flying three times a week to Japan.

Sayed-Khaiyum has urged everyone to make use of the $999 return airfare that Fiji Airways is offering and visit Japan.

He says they will also like to see more Japanese tourist come to Fiji.

Ambassador of Japan, Masahiro Omura says they now look forward to the commencement of the much anticipated Nadi-Narita direct flights by Fiji Airways from the 3rd of July.

He says he is optimistic that the resumption of direct flights between Fiji and Japan which ceased in 2009 will increase Japanese tourist arrivals to Fiji.

He adds usually connecting flights take Japanese tourist 15 to 17 hours to reach Fiji but from July 3rd it will be just 9 hours.
