There is good news for the staff of Land Transport Authority as many of them will be getting pay increments effective from next Friday.

While making the announcement, Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed‑Khaiyum says this was done after the implementation of the Job Evaluation Exercise by the LTA board.

He says that going forward the employees will be assessed on their individual performances.

Sayed‑Khaiyum says that some staff will get increases of 86%, some staff will get increases of 51%, some will get increases of 31‑50%, some will get increases of 21‑30% while some will get increases of up to 20%.

He says that about 34 staff will not get pay increments as their salary is already aligned to the market rate.

However, he says they have an opportunity of recognition during the individual review of their performance and a pay rise.

Sayed‑Khaiyum says that it will cost LTA $2.4 million to facilitate the pay increments.

He adds that during the budget announcement last year, they had set aside the funding for LTA to carry out a Job Evaluation Exercise and also be able to facilitate within its own budget allocation for any pay rise.

LTA has about 430 staff.
