The Brumbies have announced that Wallabies wing Henry Speight has signed a one‑year contract extension, ending speculation about a European move.
Speight had been weighing up a possible overseas switch, saying that the European lifestyle and possibility for travel was a major drawcard.
The new deal locks him in until the end of 2019, with next year's Japan tournament a target for Speight.
Speight says that there is still a lot to achieve with both the Brumbies and the Wallabies and he is really excited to be staying in Canberra for another year.
Speight played eight Tests for the Wallabies in 2017, the most of his career since his 2014 debut and Wallabies coach Michael Cheika said Speight was still a valued player at international level.
The Brumbies face the Waratahs at 8.45pm Saturday.
The Chiefs will take on the Highlanders at 6.35pm Friday while the Rebels meet the Hurricanes at 8.45pm.
On Saturday, the Blues meet the Sharks at 6.35pm.
The Bulls will take on the Stormers at 3.15am Sunday and the Crusaders meet the Lions at 12.30am Monday.
