Around 160 personals from the Fiji Military Force, National Fire Authority and Fiji Police Force have been deployed to the Western Division to assist people in flood areas.
Director National Disaster Management Anare Leweniqila says that these officers are deployed to assist people who are moving to evacuation centres which now are operational in the four Divisions.
Leweniqila says it has been identified that more people are now seeking shelters in evacuation centres in the Western Division.
There were 813 people in the evacuation centres in the Western Division by midday today.
People in the West are urged to contact the Western Division Command Centre on 9905457 or Divisional Police Commander West 9906859 if they need assistance.
