The Director of Public Prosecutions Christopher Pryde has sanctioned charges against Lautoka lawyer Iqbal Khan for attempting to pervert the course of justice and interference with witnesses.

Iftikar Iqbal Ahmad Khan is charged with one count of conspiracy to defeat justice and interference with witnesses.

It is alleged that between the 7th and 22nd of January 2015, Khan attempted to pervert the course of justice by interfering with the evidence of witnesses for the State in a pending case before the Nadi Magistrates Court.

He appeared in the Lautoka Magistrates Court this morning before Magistrate Rangajeeva Wimalasena.

The State served the disclosures and the court granted bail to Iqbal Khan in the sum of $1000.

The matter has been adjourned to 23rd May for plea.
