Highlanders co‑captain Ben Smith has been moved to the right wing for their Super Rugby game against the Bulls in Pretoria on Sunday morning.
Smith, who has started at fullback all season, replaces Waisake Naholo in the number 14 jersey, with his fellow All Black being rested.
Smith is replaced at fullback by utility Fletcher Smith.
Aaron Smith returns to the starting lineup.
The Highlanders are fourth in the New Zealand conference and the Bulls second in the South African Conference, although overall the Highlanders are sixth.
The Highlanders meet the Bulls at 3.15am Sunday.
The Hurricanes and the Sunwolves kick off Round 11 at 7.35 tonight.
