Athletics Fiji will be sending a team of 12 to this year’s Melanesian Championships in Port Vila, Vanuatu.
The team will be led by Errol Qaqa on the Men’s side and Heleina Young on the Women’s side with Athletics Fiji Secretary Nemani Tukunia and Calvin Yee as the team managers and Bola Tafo’ou as head coach.
The men’s side includes Marika Cabenagauna, Jim Colasau, Livai Maravou, Errol Qaqa, Meli Senokonoko and Malasebe Tuvusa.
The women’s side includes Salote Baravilala, Serenia Ragatu, Fane Sauvakacolo, Louisa Tubailagi, Vilorina Tuilawaki and Heleina Young.
Athletics Fiji says that the team departs for Port Vila tomorrow with competition starting on Wednesday and finishing off on Friday.
The team is looking to return with a few medals around their necks and a few personal bests.
However for High School sprint sensations Salote Baravilala, Serenia Ragatu and Louisa Tubuilagi, these championships will be the perfect opportunity to try and run Youth Olympic Qualifying standard times for a spot on the Fiji Youth Olympic Team to Buenos Aires.
