Just four weeks after fearing his season was over, Andrew Fifita has confirmed his standing as one of the NRL's best front‑rowers by leading Cronulla Sharks to a dramatic 22‑20 defeat of the Parramatta Eels.
Given the responsibility of captaining the Sharks for the third week in a row after Wade Graham aggravated the hamstring injury which had sidelined him since the costly round six loss to St George Illawarra, Fifita produced another demonstration of his raw power and endurance.
The Sharks were clinical in setting up two first half tries to Sosaia Feki and a try to Chad Townsend, which came from an inspired run from Valentine Holmes.
Fifita played the entire first half running for 113 run metres with three tackle busts, five offloads and a line-break in one half of football.
In the other NRL results, the Broncos beat the Bulldogs 22-20, the Knights lost to the Rabbitohs 18‑36, Panthers beat the Cowboys 26-20, Raiders beat the Titans 32‑18, the Warriors beat the West Tigers 26‑4 while the Sharks beat Eels 22‑20.
Meanwhile the Dragons will play the Storm at 4pm and the Roosters will take on the Sea Eagles at 6.10pm.
