The Fiji Sugar Corporation has paid out a total of $24.7 million to 11,871 farmers in the fourth cane payment for the 2017 season.
The farmers received $15.14 per tonne which included a top up of $6.30 by the government.
The Corporation says a total of 1,631,375 tonnes of cane was delivered in this period and the payment is expected to be deposited in the growers accounts by this afternoon or the latest by tomorrow morning.
Crushing season for Labasa begins on the 19th of next month and this payment will assist farmers for preparations.
FSC says a final cane payment which is called the “Washout Payment” will be made in October.
