The 87-year-old man who raped an 11 year old girl in Nakasi in May 2016 has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment.

The girl was a tenant at the man’s house during the time of the incident.

The elderly man was convicted of a count of rape.

High Court Judge Justice Salesi Temo stated that the man breached the neighbouring trust by raping his tenant.

He further stated that rape of children will not be tolerated as they are the future of the country.

A non‑parole period of 7 years has been set.
