The Gallagher Chiefs have secured a bonus point 45-22 win over the Pulse Energy Highlanders in their Super Rugby match played at the ANZ Stadium last night.

The Chiefs led 42‑0 at halftime.

The Highlanders did not have any answer to the Chiefs onslaught in the first‑half.

The Chiefs started the match at a blistering pace as they scored the first try in the second minute through fullback Solomon Alaimalo with Damian McKenzie successful with the conversion.

The Chiefs got the second try in the 9th minute as they led 14‑0.

Karl Tu’inukuafe got the Chiefs third try in the 13th minute with McKenzie successful with the conversion once again, the Chiefs opened up a 21‑0 lead.

Luke Jacobson scored the fourth try for the Chiefs after some good work at scrum time as they took a commanding 28‑0 lead.

Chiefs got two more tries in the closing minutes of the first half as they took a 42‑0 lead at halftime.

The Highlanders started the second‑half strongly as they scored a try through their centre Tei-horangi Walden.

Lima Sopoaga was successful with the conversion as the Chiefs led 42‑7.

Walden scored another try after some good backline move that also involved Waisake Naholo.

Sopoaga missed the conversion for the Highlanders as the Chiefs led 42‑12.

The Highlanders scored their third try to reduce the deficit to 42‑17.

Damian McKenzie who was a constant threat through out the match added three more points for the Chiefs as they increased their lead to 45‑17.

The Highlanders scored the last try of the match through Shannon Frizell.

In the other results, the Brumbies produced a superb performance to overcome the Hurricanes 24‑12, the Sharks kept their quarter‑final hopes alive with a 31‑24 come‑from‑behind victory over the Lions while the Sunwolves snatched an outstanding 42‑37 triumph over the Bulls in Singapore.

Looking at the overall Super Rugby points table, the Crusaders is still leading with 54 points, the Lions is in second place with 41, the Waratahs in third place with 39, the Hurricanes in fourth with 45 while the Chiefs is in fifth place with 41 points.
