Former Fiji 7s coach and Scarlets head coach Wayne Pivac will replace Warren Gatland as Wales coach on a four‑year deal.

Pivac was the coach of the Fiji 7s team when the national side won the Melrose Cup for a second time in 2005.

Gatland is stepping down after the 2019 World Cup in Japan and will be replaced by his fellow New Zealander.

Pivac says he hops to "protect" the legacy left by Gatland, who is Wales' longest‑serving head coach.

Welsh Rugby Union CEO, Martyn Phillips says they have secured the best man for the job and we have done so rigorously and decisively.
